Ministry Training Resident Intern Program (MTrip)
WHO CAN DO AN INTERNSHIP?
Anyone 18 or older who has chosen to follow Jesus Christ and is willing to cooperate with the internship purpose, application process and guidance from New Heights leadership can apply for the Ministry Training Resident Intern Program (MTrip).
WHAT IS THE MAIN PURPOSE FOR AN INTERNSHIP?
There are usually a couple of reasons why people do internships at a church such as New Heights.
1. Some need to fulfill college internship requirements from a Bible College or University for a certain major, such as accounting, pastoral ministries, youth ministries, music, children’s ministries, etc. In those cases we usually work with the college or universities the students are a part of. If this is the case, the potential intern needs to inform New Heights Church in the application process of the college or university they hope to attain credit from for this internship and the appropriate information and contact info for New Heights to communicate with the schools department heads for direction in forming an appropriate internship map (explained later).
2. Others do an internship to simply gain personal experience doing various types of ministry in and outside of the church.
HOW LONG DOES AN INTERNSHIP LAST?
A person can apply for an internship as short as three months and as long as one year.
WHAT DOES A PERSON DO AS AN INTERN?
After applying and receiving notice of your acceptance to take an MTrip (Ministry Training Resident Intern Program), you sit down with the leadershp here at New Heights to put together an “Internship Map.” This map outlines the length, purpose, goals and ministry responsibilities of the intern. This is put together with the interns input so that it is a true representation of what the intern needs and desires. An internship map will be the interns guide throughout their internship. Also, while interning here at New Heights, the intern is considered a “Core Leader” at New Heights and will attend Core Leadership meetings, giving vital input and direction of the overall mission of New Heights Church.
WHERE DO I LIVE DURING MY MTrip and WHAT ABOUT OTHER EXPENSES?
New Heights Church will provide housing and monthly reimbursements of ministry expenses (such as fuel, etc). We highly recommend that the intern work a part time job during the internship to cover their other personal financial needs besides the housing and ministry expenses that New Heights Church provides monthly. In some cases, the intern will have the time to work a full-time job depending on the internship responsibilities outlined with leadership in the internship map. We do ask that during the internship, the intern place their ministry responsibilities above their pursuit of worldly goods and wealth. Some employment is available at times on the church campus. An intern can inquire and apply in person in the church office when they arrive.
WHAT ARE THE BOUNDARIES (rules) FOR AN INTERN?
